G-SHOCK guarantees ultimate toughness with special shock-resistance and durability technologies. The special design of the case only supports the module at a few points so that it is suspended inside and therefore protected against shocks. G-SHOCK does not need to encase the module with other cushioning materials, making it smaller and lighter.
CASE DESIGN OFFERS PROTECTION AGAINST FREE-FALL SHOCKS
A prominent bezel configuration prevents the buttons and display from making contact with flat surfaces. This means that your G-SHOCK is protected against shocks when dropped from any angle. This design concept, which focuses on protecting against shocks, forms the basis for every G-SHOCK case design.
ALL-DIRECTIONAL COVERING
The bezel, which protects the display and buttons, is 100% resin. Shock resistance has also been ensured by inserting cushioning material between the bezel and case in metal models with lower shock-absorption capabilities.
EXTRA PROTECTION FOR KEY PARTS
Particularly important parts such as solar panels or radio-controlled units are additionally protected by their own cushioning, thereby preventing contact failures and improper operation due to distortions that can otherwise occur inside the module if the watch experiences a sudden strong impact.
STRAP THAT ACTS AS A SHOCK ABSORBER
The strap itself acts as a shock absorber. The combination ratio of urethane resin is subject to strict standards. Neither too soft nor too hard — the precisely defined combination allows for an ideal balance between shock resistance and comfort.
